Where the married and divorced most commonly live in NYC

In class, we examined recent census data available through the American Fact Finder on the Census website. http://factfinder2.census.gov. For the data used in the maps below, I used a data sheet from 2012, covering 5-year data, based on census tracts on marriage.

The more red a neighborhood is, the fewer number of marriages there are. The greener a neighborhood, the greater the number of marriages. White represents neighborhoods that have the median numbers of marriages, which in NYC in 2012 was: 39.90%.

The more red a neighborhood is, the higher the number of divorces there are. The greener a neighborhood, the lower the divorce rate. White represents neighborhoods that have the median numbers of divorces, which in NYC in 2012 was: 7.6%.
